This week’s Good News from the Resistance: Something’s happening here .. and GOP politicians are running in fear; Army officer gets his Afghani interpreter to U.S. in the nick of time; Ohio neighbor demonstrates love really does trump hate; Virginia politician whines that too many women are bothering him; the People’s Calendar helps you figure out which politicians to bother (or thank) in your neighborhood, and when.
Marla’s Resistance Rx: Read the Good News in one fell swoop, then say the Good News mantra out loud: We, the people, have the power to delay, dilute, and defeat “45’s” plans to destroy the America we love. Repeat.
WE SWARMING CROWDS AT RED STATE TOWN HALLS
Politicians devising escape routes to avoid crowds
WE U.S. ARMY OFFICER MAKING GOOD ON HIS VOW
Captain Matthew Ball gets his Afghani interpreter to U.S. before Muslim ban extended
WE RANDOM NOTES OF KINDNESS
Muslim Teen “has never felt more welcome” in Trump-supporting Ohio.
WE INSPIRING POLITICIANS TO WHINE IN URBAN SLANG
Don’t you just hate it when women keep getting up in your grill?
WE TAKING ACTION: SHOW UP!
Use this handy People’s Calendar to learn when your elected officials will be back home to hear what you have to say. Grab some friends and go to a Town Hall or a district office to speak your mind.
Brilliant idea!
There is hope.
There is good news.
My chickens are laying eggs!
I think it’s t-shirt time…how about the number 45 with the big red circle with the line through it, and the top of the 5 can have a tuff of orange hair plastered on top.
I miss you my friend.
Marla–thank you for your good news; we all need it. Do not tell your dog of your fears, BTW.
Sharon
You are the best, Marla. I will forward this blog to all my friends who have been miserable since November 8. I hope that there will be so much good news that you will need to blog daily! xoxo
I find that a massage is better than a “”restorative” yoga class (just what is being restored?)… I am hoping your blog will have the effect of reducing my wine consumption.
Thank you!
I hear you about the wine … many friends have been complaining of the “Trump 10” – as in # pounds gained. Maybe I should offer dieting tips int he blog?
I have been misquoted. It was Trump Twenty 😉
No Dolly, YOU are the best!
I do a weekly massage – neuro-muscular, for my back – and now my therapist tells me there has been a spike in the number of massages that her politically active clients have. Not surprisin – may this newsetter/blog prove to be an antidote.
My acupuncturist is offering walk-in sessions on Friday afternoons because so many of her clients have been suffering with a stress overload since the election. Here you go:
FABULOUS Acupuncturist: Malaika Tabors,186 Hampshire St, Cambridge (Inman Square)
After witnessing the effects of the recent events in this country on the body systems of my clients and friends (& myself), I am opening my clinic on Friday late afternoons to a community-style space where people can just come and sit together in quiet, and receive a stress-relieving ear acupuncture treatment. A modified version of this treatment can also be accomplished with press-on ear seeds for children, or if there is a sensitivity to or fear of needles in general.I am offering this clinic on Fridays, from 5:30-7 pm. You should plan on coming no later than 6:30 in order to have the full 30 min treatment time. This clinic will be run on a donation basis, recommended donation of $5-$20. Any amount over $5 will be donated to Acupuncturists Without Borders, a group I am involved with who sends acupuncturists into disaster areas, domestically and internationally, to help victims and responders with this same treatment you will be receiving in this clinic.
Of course you are doing this, Marla, because you ALWAYS know what to do! Thank you!!!
Brilliant, Marla, just brilliant! Thanks for this much needed antidote.
Count me in for the dieting tips too…
Full disclosure: My dieting tips are along the lines of “save your calories for wine.”
Nice! We can definitely use a dose. Thanks for providing a little balance in this brave new world we find ourselves in.
Love this Marla! Keep it up. We’re in it for the long haul, and your good news is definitely going to help keep us going. I’m sharing your blog now with the group that just met yesterday in our post- Women’s March huddle in Baltimore.
Thank you, Marla! Just the solace we need during such grim days. Love from Maine, Peggy
Just the laugh was good news – thanks for that! I agree – there’s good news in the fact that we are all engaging!
YAY! I can’t believe that for once I was bossier than you. You were meant to do this. So excited that it has launched. Perfect tonic and spokeswoman for the times.
Marla, you’re at it again doing good! I am reminded of Shakespeare “How far that little candle throws its beams. So shines a good deed in the naughty world.” Thank you.
My Miracle, Marla….thank you. You inspire to continue resisting. And you inspire me to continue hoping. Anne
Just talked with good friends, and we decided not to have the daily angry chatter in our brains continue to spill out into our weekly conversations. Your blog has inspired me to think “good news”. Thank you and thanks to Anne Manning as well for forwarding me your blog. I look forward to your daily reminders.
Thanks, Barbara. I decided to focus on Good News out of the same frustration – too much negativity, which I feared would lead to inaction. I read so much good news all day now that it’s hard to choose which stories to publish. Only sending weekly at this point, but if the good news keeps coming at this rate, may have to be more frequent.
Love this Marla. Keep up the good news.
Nothing is more important then staying positive, maintaining a sense of humor, and connecting with people who think like me. Thank you Marla! You’re blog reminds me that there is hope through connection. This is a wonderful way to connect and I’m grateful to be part of this blog
Thanks, Leslie! There’s so much good news, and I am glad to share it.
YOU ARE AMAZING MARLA! <3
Thank you so much for the being so inspiring and for sharing this! BrilliantWe all need the good news and your great sense of humor! Hope is great, being together is great! And you are so right, we do have the power to stop the 45!
I am so grateful to be among the recipients of this blog 😉
Maybe you can start a site like this for Turkey?
Yes!! What a great idea! We need to fight against all those who are like 45, and we do have one worse example in Turkey. I will do it and share the cheers of Good News! We do have the power!! Yes!
As always, you are amazing! Thank you.
how do I find the peoples calendar that you write about in this email?
Thanks
Leah
Click right under it where it says Read the Good News. If that doesn’t work … please let me know!
Marla
Fabulous! Keep em coming, Ande
So great!
I want to report a meeting with a CA Congressman. He is a Democrat and reported that in all his years he hasn’t had so many people at his town halls. And everyone wanted to know what to do??? His view is that we should be doing everything so…
If you like to March, MARCH.
If you like to make calls, MAKE CALLS.
If you like to write letters, WRITE LETTERS.
IT ALL MATTERS.
And even the good news blog is worth doing!
Thanks
Daphne
Marla,
This is the best. You are the best. And your mantra is the BEST!
Thank you!!!
Dolly
